Residential Service Setup
To have your services turned on you must file an application, either in person at the Customer Service Center located at 301 McCall Street in Greer or by fax if you own the property. Identification will be required and you may apply for service Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Same day service is available if the application is completed before 1:00 p.m.
Greer CPW requires a security deposit, a letter of credit from a previous utility, or proof of ownership along with a connection fee before services can be turned on.
Discontinuing Your Service
When you wish to have your services turned off or transferred, please call (864) 848-5500 during business hours or email your request to our customer service department at cs@greercpw.com. Disconnection or transfer of service will be accepted after the necessary information is obtained.

Electric Commercial Service Setup
There are two types of service for commercial electric customers:
Temporary Electric Service
Temporary service must be applied for under the same name as the building permit. Application may be made at the Customer Service Center at 301 McCall Street.
The following are needed to apply for temporary service:
- 911 Address of structure being built or renovated. This address is obtained from Greenville or Spartanburg County.
- Building Permit which is obtained from City or County Building and Zoning Department.
- Driver’s license or valid photo identification along with Social Security or Federal ID.
- Contact name and phone number.
- The standard fee for temporary service is $25.00 for residential, $35.00 Commercial.
Payment may be made by cash, check, VISA, or Master Card.
Once the application process is completed at the Customer Service Center, a work order is generated and sent to the Electric Department.
Prior to connecting the electrical service, the following must occur:
- The temporary meter pole is supplied and installed by the customer. Greer CPW’s Electric Department will specify the location.
- The City or County Building and Zoning Department will inspect and approve the temporary service.
- Submit completed approved easements (if applicable) to our Electric Engineering Department.
- A minimum of three (3) business days is required to obtain a locate for underground facilities in the area temporary service is requested. Additional time may be required for design and construction.
Permanent Electric Service
Permanent service applications, for commercial services, must be made at the Customer Services Center.
The following are needed to apply for permanent service:
- Existing service address
- Driver’s license or valid photo identification along with Social Security or Federal ID.
- Contact name and phone number
- If applicable, Sales Tax Exemption certificate
- Fees: Service fee as well as a deposit if new customer does not own the building. The service fee is based on the number of services provided and the deposit is calculated at 1.25 times the highest monthly bill for all services provided. Methods for the deposit are cash, check, VISA, or Master Card, bank or utility letter of credit, certificate of deposit or a bond. Contact the Customer Services Center for actual amount of the required deposit.
Prior to connecting the electrical service, inspections must be obtained as follows:
- All commercial buildings in Greenville County must be inspected prior to connecting the permanent electrical service; therefore, an electrical permit may need to be purchased by the new tenant.
