Equal Payment Plan
To ease the burden of seasonally high energy bills, CPW offers an average billing program called the Equal Payment Plan. Payment amounts will be the same every month, so there aren’t any surprises when the temperature or consumption is extreme.
Enrollment is easy, and offered to qualifying accounts.
Residential customers with electric or natural gas
service at least through the past winter are eligible. They must complete the equal payment application and meet all eligibility requirements. The account must have a zero balance prior to plan enrollment. Water only customers and Commercial accounts are not eligible for Equal payment Plan.
Utility bills for the year will be calculated and agreed upon by CPW and the customer. In cases where utility consumption or unforeseen price changes are drastic, the payment amount may be adjusted during the year after notification to the customer.
To Be Eligible:
- The customer must have residential electric or natural gas service
at least through the past winter.
- The account must have a zero balance prior to plan enrollment.
- Customer must agree to pay the calculated bill assigned by our staff, which is based on the average of the previous year’s consumption divided by 11 months, and may take into account any known
estimated increases in rates or supply costs.
- Payments cannot be skipped even if customer has a credit balance.
- Account balance must be settled up at the end of each 12-month period following enrollment.
- Late payments will be subject to a 5 percent
penalty as applied to all other customers, and if not
paid, service may be subject to disconnection.
- If a customer is taken off the equal payment plan for any reason, they must wait
one year before re-enrolling.
