Conserving energy, saving money
Natural gas is today's environmental choice because it is clean burning and energy efficient -- and it is beneficial to you because it can save money. Here are some great tips on how you can save energy in your home:
- Vent your gas dryer to the outside and keep the equipment clean and in good working order.
- When cooking on the stove, adjust the flame so that it fits the pan. Never allow the flame to lap around the sides of the pan.
- Cover pans to hold in heat.
- Use your gas grill often -- gas grills use less energy and are more cost effective.
- Ensure that you have properly insulated your water heater, water lines, under the house between floor joists and in the attic.
- Have an energy audit done of your home.
- Install storm windows and ensure caulking is present.
- Have your furnace serviced annually.
- Lower your thermostat at night.
- Install an energy efficient programmable thermostat.
- When having gas appliances installed, be sure to use a qualified contractor to ensure local codes are adhered to.
