Community involvement
United Way Campaign
Employees have once again pulled together to show they care about Greer and our customers in this year’s United Way campaign. With an ambitious goal and presentations from local agencies, employees opened their hearts –and their wallets- to top last years donation total. Employee contributions along with CPW’s corporate gift totaled $10,000.00 for the 2003 campaign. This shows that our employees care about the community, and is another example of how CPW is Focusing Our Energy On You.
CPW Employees Participate in Greer Relay For Life
Employees from CPW joined hundreds of other businesses and residents on Friday, May 21st at Dooley Field to participate in an all-night relay. The event is part of the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life and helps to raise money for cancer research and patient support. The relay kicked off with dozens of Greer cancer survivors walking the first lap. One of the highlights included the lighting of more than 2,000 luminaries that circled the track in memory or honor of cancer patients in Greer. The event raised over $75,000 that will be put toward cancer research and local outreach programs.
Tax Reductions for Citizens of Greer
While some utility companies send their profits to shareholders in distant cities, CPW reinvests all its proceeds right here. Every year, CPW transfers more than $1 million to the City of Greer and surrounding communities. These funds help pay for vital services like police and fire safety, as well as improve the quality of life for the whole community.
