GREER – Greer CPW and the Greer Police Department will once again join forces to take unwanted and expired medicine off the streets.

“This event may last a couple of hours, but it has one of the greatest impacts to everyone year-round,” said Alison Rauch, Greer CPW Public Information Coordinator.

The public is asked to bring expired, unused, or unwanted medicine, no questions asked to 301 McCall Street, Greer, SC 29650 (CPW Headquarters) on Saturday October 28,2023 from 10 am – 2 pm.  This event coincides with a yearly event hosted by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration where police agencies, pharmacies and utility organizations work together to get medicine off the streets. Thousands of drug take back events are scheduled for October nationwide.

“Items that reach our wastewater treatment plant, like medicines, are unable to be fully removed from the water. This greatly impacts your drinking water and other wildlife downstream,” said Alison Rauch, Greer CPW Public Information Coordinator.

Anyone who cannot attend this year’s drug take back day should use the permanent drop boxes available 24/7 at the Greer Police Department or Greer Memorial Hospital.

Greer CPW's lobby and drive thru will be closed Sept. 29 - Oct. 2 due to the migration of our billing software and customer service portal – PayGo. We will also not be able to accept over the phone or auto draft payments during this time. Any customer scheduled for auto draft will be processed the next business day. Please follow any instructions you receive by text or email to set up your new portal in PayGo. Our afterhours call center will still accept calls for emergencies only at 864-848-5500.Learn More
