The Friends of Lake Robinson (FOLR) will once again host its annual juried art competition in 2021. The contest is open to the general public regardless of age.The group invites you to submit photos or artwork capturing the beauty of nature by July 15, 2021. Friends of Lake Robinson will start accepting entries February 1, 2021, so now is the time to start preparing your work. All winning art entries will be presented at a reception to be held at Greer City Hall in October 2021 and will be displayed for a period of about one month. Linda Hosek will serve as the juror. As a documentary-style and fine art photographer, Linda Hosek creates portrait and street images that are curious, intimate and ironic. As a landscape and nature photographer, Linda emphasizes compositional elements, patterns, mood, motion and whimsy. She began photographing professionally in 1973, producing editorial images for university publications. Since moving to Greenville, South Carolina, in 2018, she has exhibited images and received awards in several area galleries, including the SE Center for Photography in Greenville, the Blue Ridge Art Center in Seneca, the West Main Artists Cooperative in Spartanburg, the 2020 Friends of Lake Washington Art Contest in Greer and Furman University exhibit spaces through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute in Greenville. Previously, Linda exhibited in galleries in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Hawaii and Oregon. She had solo exhibitions in Hawaii in 2001 and Oregon in 1977. Private collections and publications also feature her photographs.
