Greer CPW and the Greer Police Department are once again teaming up to help remove unwanted and expired medications from the community.

“This event may only last a few hours, but it has one of the greatest year-round impacts,” said Lieutenant Chris Forrester with the Greer Police Department.

The public is invited to bring expired, unused, or unwanted medications — no questions asked — to 301 McCall Street, Greer, SC 29650 (CPW Headquarters) on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This local event coincides with the annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, an initiative led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in partnership with police agencies, pharmacies, and utility organizations across the country.

“Items that reach our wastewater treatment plants, like medications, cannot be fully removed from the water,” said Alison Rauch, Greer CPW Public Information Coordinator. “This greatly impacts your drinking water and other wildlife downstream.”

For those unable to attend, permanent drug drop boxes are available 24/7 at both the Greer Police Department and Greer Memorial Hospital.
