Clarified Rate Structure for G100 and G200 Natural Gas Customers

Beginning August 1, 2026, Greer CPW residential and small commercial natural gas customers will notice a new, more detailed breakdown of the charges that make up your natural gas bill. The new rate structure is revenue neutral for Greer CPW meaning the structure does not increase or decrease the total amount of money collected. We hope this provides a better understanding of the costs that make up your bill and how your usage charges are calculated.

Natural gas customers will now see the following line items:

  • Facilities Charge – A fixed, monthly fee that helps cover the cost of providing service to your home or business. The facilities charge covers the cost of billing, meter reading, customer service, and communications, for example.
  • Distribution Charge – The cost of delivering natural gas through Greer CPW’s local distribution network to homes and businesses. This charge includes the distribution operations and maintenance, emergency response, capital investments, and repairs, for example.
  • Interstate Pipeline Charge – The cost of transporting natural gas through interstate and regional pipeline systems to our local distribution network. Greer CPW purchases gas from suppliers, and it is primarily delivered using the Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Corporation.
  • Purchased Gas Charge – The cost of the natural gas commodity.

Previously, the Distribution, Interstate Pipeline, and Purchased Gas Charges were combined under the “Usage” and “PGA” sections of your bill. These costs are now shown separately to provide better clarity and reflect the actual costs of serving our customers. Updates to the rate structure will be reflected in your August statement depending on your billing cycle.

Greer CPW continues to have some of the lowest utility rates in the region. As our billing software improves, we will continue to make updates to maintain the high level of service customers have grown to expect.
