Repairs to the damaged fire hydrant are complete and water service has been restored to customers living in the Saint Mark Road area and adjoining streets. Now is the time customers should boil their water for one minute before drinking or cooking. We are asking customers to do this out of an abundance of caution because bacteria may have grown in the waterlines. Per DHEC rules, water samples must remain in the incubator for 24 hours so we will know at approximately 6:37 PM on Thursday November 26th whether the boil water advisory can be lifted. We will call customers number on file, update social media, the website and traditional news media.
Greer – 11/25/20 – 6:00 AM– Greer CPW water customers living in the Saint Mark Road area of water service will experience low water pressure this morning due to a damaged fire hydrant.
Water crews plan to turn the water completely off to make repairs around 8:00 AM Wednesday November 25th. Repairs may take 6-8 hours to complete and then customers will need to boil their water for one minute before drinking or cooking for the next 24 hours. This precautionary boil water advisory means the water may be contaminated and is not safe for consumption.
The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control requires water utilities to issue a boil water advisory when water pressure levels drop below 20 psi. With the loss of pressure, there is a possibility for water to become contaminated with harmful bacteria. More information about boil water advisories can be found:
