We want to warn customers about a scam circulating our service territory. We’ve heard from customers that salespeople claiming to represent Greer CPW’s net metering program are going door-to-door attempting to schedule solar appointments with “energy technicians.” These individuals do not work for Greer CPW. Unfortunately, they are likely using county tax and GIS information to identify customers by name as a sales tactic.
We want to remind customers to be cautious of any door-to-door salespeople claiming to be with Greer CPW, as this is not something we do. We have also not raised electric rates in 2026, despite what these salespeople may be claiming. However, in October 2025, we did announce a slight adjustment to the facilities charge for water and wastewater services. There will be no changes in 2026 to Greer CPW’s electric or natural gas rates.
Our rate information can be found on our website under each utility section. It’s also important to note that Greer CPW maintains some of the lowest rates in our area. Charts comparing our rates to other regional utilities are available on our website.
Any of our contractors will be in clearly marked vehicles and will carry badges from their respective companies. You can always call us at 864-848-5500 to verify their employment status.
Additionally, Greer CPW would not typically knock on your door unless there is an emergency. In most cases, we would place an automated phone call to the number on file, which is why we work hard to keep current contact information for our customers.
We understand that solar panels have become increasingly popular. However, we strongly encourage customers to do their research, obtain at least three quotes, check with their home insurance provider about any additional considerations, and confirm that any tax credits or incentives meet their expectations.
Do not feel pressured by salespeople to make a decision on the spot. If Greer CPW is your electric provider and you choose to install solar panels, please contact us so we can assist you. We offer a very competitive net metering program that allows customers to receive credits for excess energy sent back to the grid, helping offset your bill.
