GREER – Greer CPW Commissioner’s recently approved some updates to the fee and deposit schedule for incoming and current Greer CPW customers.  The new fee and deposit schedule will be effective June 1, 2024.

“These modifications reflect a breakeven point for us.” said Angela Karcher, Greer CPW Finance Manager.

Changes include increases to new construction activation fees, residential and commercial activation fees and the non-payment fee. In addition to the non-payment fee going up, the fee will be added immediately to the account when a customer is subject to disconnection for non-payment. There will also be a new seasonal gas fee for any customer who turns their gas off during summer months.

“The cost of doing business has increased but the fees have not. We do not want our utility rates to subsidize our one time fees because the fees do not recover the true costs of the activity,” said Karcher.

The meter re-read fee and after-hours reconnect fee will also be changing in addition to builder deposits and rental light fees as one of the lights Greer CPW had been using can no longer be sourced.
